Probably the most common vest of the period, supplied as standard with four exterior pockets, six wooden, bone or pearl buttons, which we choose dependant on the fabric used. Supplied in your choice of plain or tweed wool with polished cotton lining as standard. All our vests are fitted with period adjustable buckle at the rear.
Satin lining, velvet collar, pocket tabs and silk tape finishing to edges, all available as extras.

An authentic period pattern produces this quality brown or black oilskin coat (also available in white cotton canvas). It is quite long, finishing well below the knee, it has a split rear seam from the small of the back to the bottom of the coat (to enable the coat to be worn on horseback) which is reinforced with a leather tab.

It can be worn either way shown, this is a replica of a popular Duster of the western period.

This is just one of our versions of an Eighteenth century Gentleman's coat, using a quality plain wool from the Hainsworth range. Also shown is a 'typical of the period' long silk waistcoat which is available separately.
We have used a brass effect floral button with this coat, we endeavour to use the most appropriate buttons for each individual garment.

These were made for clients who re-enact the Light Company of Loyal Newport Volunteers. Made from a top quality Hainsworth wool, the clients supplied their own buttons and epaulettes and the price does not include these items. We cannot easily obtain individual regimental buttons so we fit a generic brass or pewter button as standard.

CT022 Tombstone Frock Coat
This is our 'Long Coat' based on the Frockcoat worn by Kurt Russell towards the end of the film 'Tombstone'. It is made from a medium weight black wool with a black polished cotton lining and two exterior pockets with flaps. It has three cloth covered buttons on the front and two more on a belt at the back. The coat is cut 'Long' to finish mid-calf, it is generally worn open and we cut it accordingly. If you want to be able to fasten the coat we will cut it more generously, please respond when prompted during the order process.

This new photograph show the coat being worn in the fashion of a 'Gunslinger' however this is a very versatile coat and is suited to many purposes, a lot of our customers buy them for everyday wear !

Another very popular civilian item, made in a quality Hainsworth wool from an original pattern in our collection, features eight piece body and two piece sleeves, fully lined in black cotton with interior pocket. The coat is cut to be worn at 'just above' knee length. Comes with four buttons to the front, two at the rear on the seams and three on the cuffs. The buttons on this example are velvet covered to match the contrasting collar . Please note these coats were not generally worn 'done-up' and will be cut accordingly.
Options are velvet half collar £10.00, pocket flaps £10.00 and cuffs £10.00. Please tick which you require.

CT029A 1850-90's Double Breasted Civilian Frockcoat
This is a very popular item amongst Western and Victorian Civilian Re-enactors, it is made from a quality Black Hainsworth wool. Its special feature is that the front Satin lining extends onto the collar. It has six black satin covered buttons on the front and fully opening cuffs each with three black satin covered buttons. The rest of the lining is a fine silesian polished cotton except sleeves which are white cotton . This is a copy of an original in our collection which is dated to 1872.

CT029DJ Jeancloth Long Frock
A variation of the traditional frock, yes it is much the same but we cut it longer for a more satisfying western look. Made with a 2 piece front so the coat is 'skirted' which makes it 'fuller'. It has 2 flap pockets at the hip plus an interior pocket, we fit 4 large wooden buttons to it at the front and 2 to the rear on the seams.
This is a lovely coat that is very popular with westerners. Shown here made in our light weight jean cloth which we have in a variety of colours.
Also shown is our 'High Cut' Double Breasted 'Virginian Waistcoat' and a pair of civilian style trousers made from the same material as the coat

CT029J Jeancloth Frock Coat
This is a great traditional Frockcoat for the Western/Victorian era, we make this one from our unique jeanscloth which is a 50/50 blend of cotton and wool resulting in a textured weave that looks great on a frockcoat. It also makes it lighter and therefore more comfortable to wear in the summer. We have a range of colours and you can choose how many buttons are fitted to the front. We usually fit either antler or wood buttons whichever best suit the coat colour you have chosen. This one is fitted with wooden buttons.
The coat is made with a 'skirt' just like the originals were, which means it flows rather nicely at the back when you are walking.
A very smart coat indeed!

CT5767 Full Length Frock Coat in Tweed Wool
This is a lovely example of a full length frock coat dating to the period 1860-1920 it is made from a quality tweed wool with brown velvet collar and cuffs, the buttons are also velvet covered to match. Three buttons are fitted to the front, three to the sleeves and two to the rear. The coat is lined in a brown polished cotton with contrasting sleeve lining. There are 2 flap pockets at the hip and an interior document pocket is also fitted.
The coat has a central vent at the rear which extends to the small of the back enabling the coat to be worn when riding a horse.
Alternative colours are fitted with matching velvet collars, cuffs and buttons so if you choose the black coat we would fit a black velvet collars, cuffs and buttons with a black polished cotton lining.

This type of frock coat was often worn in the late 19th century. We make these from wool with a polished cotton lining they have hip pockets and the whole coat is piped with lace to accentuate the pockets cuff and collar. Black frocks are piped in black lace all the others are made to contrast as in the example shown.

This is just superb, the suit comprises our CT029 Single breasted Frock Coat with our CT034 Virginian Vest plus a pair of CT040 Gentlemans trousers and a matching silk tie, all made from the very finest black Barathea wool and finished off with a fancy deep burgundy lining to the inside of the coat and the back of the vest, the buttons are all cloth covered. CT5032 Civilian Day Frock Coat
One of our most popular civilian items, shown here in charcoal jeancloth cut from an original pattern in our collection. The coat features eight piece body construction and two piece sleeves, fully lined in black polished cotton with interior pocket. The front of the jacket is skirted. This is a more casual version of the frock coat which became popular in the 1880's, particularly in the far west, essentially it is a shorter version of CT029.
Comes with three buttons to the front, two at the rear on the seams and two on the cuffs. . Please note these coats were generally worn looser than a formal frock coat and will be cut accordingly. Made to order only in the colours and sizes below, delivery 10-12 weeks minimum.
