The 1881 three different loop sizes were incorporated depending on which type of belt they were to be fitted to, please state which belt you will be using when prompted..
These were the first holsters truly designed to fit the 7,1/2" barrelled Colt .45 Army Pistol or the 1873 .45 Smith and Wesson (Schofield).
This was the most common holster of the Indian War era, it features the double hole half flap and is stamped Rock Island Arsenal on the flap with A.R.Smith sub inspector on the rear. £65.00.

The 1883 Forsyth Holster, never officially adopted it was designed to fit over the Anson Mills belt. In the field 1881 pattern holsters were often altered to this pattern by saddlers. Features an easy fitting large loop design with brass buckle and belt for adjustment. Stamped Rock Island Arsenal on the flap with A.R.Smith sub inspector on the rear.

The 1883 'Ropes' holster, this was never 'officially' introduced but there is evidence to suggest that a number saw service in Army Field Trials, it is similar to the 'Forsyth Holster' but is handed to be worn on the right hip with the butt of the pistol facing rearward. The most unusual feature is the row of 10 bullet loops sewn into the top of the body of the holster. We have stamped this one San Antonio Arsenal on the body of the holster and J.C.Miller sub inspector on the flap
