Our version of a typical 'Roundabout' of this period, we make ours with 12 buttons at the front and a plain 1,1/2" high collar. The jacket is 6 piece construction and features a 'plain cuff which is fully opening and has two buttons fitted to it.
As these were usually a private purchase and there are many different versions of these jackets surviving we will happily make this jacket to a different specification for you.

 | RB5752 1872 Officers Frockcoat
This is the double breasted frock coat that became regulation after 1872. The Officers rank is denoted by the number of lace stripes on the cuff, one for 1st Lieutenant, 2 for Captain, 3 for Field Officer and 4 for Colonel and above. The rank illustrated is Lieutenant Colonel. This particular frock coat was made for the Frazier Museum In Kentucky USA and is featured as the centrepiece of their mounted soldiers display . The coat is fully lined in black polished cotton and we use a high quality dark blue wool for the exterior. There are pockets in the rear skirts and an inside breast pocket is also fitted.
The colour of cloth is matched to original examples in our own collection. The coat is made to order only, please state which rank you require.

Made for the Frazier Museum at the same time as the frock coat above. The trousers have a yellow woollen stripe 1.5" wide down the outside edge and feature the pocket style shown above along with a high waistband with two button fastening, The rear of the trousers are not reinforced as these are meant to be for dress wear and are made from high quality superfine wool, if you require the reinforced section please tick the box at the bottom of this section, There is no charge for the reinforcing but we will make the trousers in a different grade of cloth as they will for field use instead of dress wear.

RB608 1872 US Dress Tunic Collectors Quality
An exact copy of the originals in our own collection. It is made from Superfine Blue Wool, with (Yellow for Cavalry, Red for Artillery, Light blue for Infantry) facings in the correct positions, the cloth we use is manufactured to the same standard as the wool on our original garments. We cannot currently obtain Indian War pattern buttons so we fit the Civil War pattern buttons which are almost identical. Please note there were various small changes to this uniform after it was fiirst introduced the version we make is after all the small changes had been approved.

After much pressure from serving Officer's there was a revision to the old civil war uniforms authorised in 1872, it was however some time before these new uniforms were delivered to the far western outposts. On campaign the men continued to wear the civil war uniforms that were still in plentiful supply, whilst the new uniform was kept for dress occassions. These are our M1872 Mounted trousers with top opening pockets & re-inforced seat, this pair has Sergeants 1,1/2" yellw wool chevron stripe on the outside leg, Nco's stripes can be ordered. Please note these are cut much closer than our civil war pants and are designed to be worn inside your boots. You can specify a canvas re-inforcement at additional cost if you wish. RB604A 1881 Cavalry Officers Trousers Collectors Quality
An exact copy of an original pair that we recently bought in from the USA for display in our own collection.
These trousers are a private purchase made by a well known Military Tailor of the period, there are 2 back pockets and 2 side slash pockets which can be button-fastened. The pockets and waistband are all lined in very strong cotton sateen. The springbottom cuffs are reinforced at the heel and the cloth we use is a darker version of the sky blue that matches exactly the original pair, it is worth mentioning that these are dress trousers and are not reinforced in the seat area. They come fitted with brace buttons and the 1.5" wide stripe. also fitted is a rear belt adjuster with brass period clasp.
